Traffic regulations in Shillong for Durga Puja from Sept 28 to Oct 2

Shillong, Sept 26: The Shillong Traffic Police has announced specific traffic regulations to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the Durga Puja celebrations in Shillong city from September 28 to October 2, 2025.

Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be restricted from entering Shillong city from September 29 to October 2, 2025, between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM daily, depending on traffic situations.

On route diversion, certain roads leading to major Puja pandals will be declared No Entry Zones for private vehicles, with alternative routes provided.

Visitors are advised to park their vehicles at designated parking places. Roadside parking is strictly prohibited, and violators will be penalized.

Traffic police will conduct checks at strategic locations for rash and negligent driving, over-speeding, and drunk driving.

Visitors are encouraged to walk to Puja pandals to avoid traffic congestion and follow instructions from the District Administration and Police Department.
In case of emergencies, people are requested to dial 112.
