Jowai, March 18: A devastating fire broke out at the house of Itaima Iakai in Umpaji, Sahsniang Saitthad village, West Jaintia Hills, on Monday night between 8:45 and 9:05 PM.
At the time of the incident, two siblings, Elisha Iakai (4 years old) and Glorify Iakai (10 years old), were asleep inside the Assam-type house. While Glorify managed to escape, young Elisha tragically lost her life in the fire.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
