Tura, Nov 13: Voting for 56-Gambegre constituency began at 7 am.
Huge queue were witnessed in several polling stations across Gambegre constituency.
Six candidates including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s wife Dr Mehtab Chandee A Sangma and sitting MDC and wife of Zenith Sangma, Sadhiarani M Sangma are in fray.
Over 32 thousands electorates spread in 51 polling station will decide on the fate of six contesting candidates.
All political parties have made their pitch and had campaigned aggressively for their party candidates.
Voters in the Gambegre constituency showed early enthusiasm with 27 percent casting their votes in the morning hours of the polling day on Wednesday.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Chelani confirmed the turnout, noting that polling is underway smoothly across all 51 designated stations in the constituency.
However, there was a minor issue, as some polling stations faced technical glitches with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The VVPAT at the 39-Rongkon Songital LP School polling station was replaced at the start of the polling process, while at the 51-Dilniduara polling station, the entire EVM set was replaced before voting began, according to DC Jagdish Chelani.
