New Delhi, June 4: The pre-poll slogan of BJP, “Ab ki Baar 400 Paar”, seems to be a political “Jumla” as the party, which scored 303 seats alone in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, is now hovering around the 244 mark. As per the latest data from EC, the BJP is leading in 245 seats, and the NDA alliance is at the 295 mark, which scored 353 in the last general elections.
On the other hand, The INDIA block has defied all predictions and has put up a very strong fight. The opposition alliance is leading in over 231 seats. The Indian National Congress alone is near the 100 mark.
There is a very close fight in some of the key states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The biggest surprise so far is Uttar Pradesh, where, led by Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, the INDIA bloc is ahead of the NDA. In Maharashtra as well, the INDIA alliance is locked in a neck-and-neck contest with the NDA.
It is now clear that the BJP-led NDA alliance is moving ahead for the third term at the centre, but with far fewer numbers than Exit-Polls had predicted.
