Meghalaya youths lured to fake job schemes, to return home safely after Mumbai ordeal

Tura, April 12: Sixteen Garo youths from Meghalaya, who were deceived by fake job promises in Mumbai, have been successfully rescued and are on their way back home, informed Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, he confirmed their safe return through a social media post and, thanked officials from Mumbai and Meghalaya for their collaborative efforts in facilitating the rescue operation.

The youths had fallen prey to a deceptive scheme orchestrated by fraudulent Pijush R. Marak, who offered them non-existent positions at a fake company. An FIR was lodged against Marak earlier this month in connection with the scam.

Minister highlighted the importance of caution when dealing with job offers, emphasizing the prevalence of fake job traps and urging vigilance in verifying the legitimacy of employment opportunities. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for his support in arranging their return.
