Tura, Jan 14: With the last batch of athletes and officials arriving in Tura on Sunday morning, the 5th Meghalaya Games is all set for a grand inauguration on Monday.

History will be created on January 15, 2024 when President of India, Smti. Droupadi Murmu, will inaugurate the 5th edition of the Meghalaya Games at PA Sangma Stadium in Tura. This is also the first time in history that the Meghalaya Games are being held outside Shillong.

The athletes arriving at ISBT, Tura were also treated to live performances by teams of Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project, uplifting their spirit and infusing them with the energy and vibe of the Games.

Additionally, some of the injured athletes were provided with medical aid at the ISBT.

In the evening, full dress rehearsal will take place at PA Sangma Stadium for smooth conduct of the inauguration ceremony in accordance with the protocols for the President’s visit.

Close to 3000 athletes are participating in the 5th Meghalaya Games across 23 disciplines, which will be played in 16 venues across the Tura town.
