Shillong Jan 10: A Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited (MePTCL) employee was found dead in his office quarter at Bara Killing, Ri Bhoi District, having hanged himself with a traditional Khasi carried bag known as Pla-ïew.

On Tuesday at approximately 8:30 AM, the police were informed that Paimon Khongkrom, an employee of MePTCL, had tragically ended his own life by hanging in the doorway of his residential quarters.

Following the incident, the police, in the presence of family members, retrieved the body. The bereaved family, showing trust and with no suspicion of foul play, has requested to waive the post mortem examination. The deceased’s wife disclosed that Khongkrom had been grappling with mental illness. Consequently, authorities have granted the exemption for the post-mortem examination, allowing the family to proceed with the final rites.
