KHADC launches garbage disposal truck for Iewduh

Shillong, Sep 13: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Pyniaid Sing Syiem, launched the Garbage Disposal Truck on Wednesday to collect waste from Ïewduh.

Apart from the CEM, the launching programme was also attended by the Executive Member (EM) in charge of Health and Sanitation, Victor Ranee, the Syiem of Hima Mylliem, Paiem Ainam Manik Syiem, District Council officials, and the shopkeepers and vendors of Ïewduh.

The main objective of launching the garbage disposal truck and handing it to the Hima Mylliem is that the KHADC has taken cognizance of the cleanliness and sanitation at Ïewduh, said CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem.

It may be mentioned that the KHADC, at the initiative of the CEM, has constituted a committee to look into the safety and security of the Iewduh market and its six adjoining localities. The committee will also look into matters to ensure that proper hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the Iewduh market.

The garbage disposal truck was funded through the Chief Minister Special Development Fund (CMSDF), as informed by the CEM.

The committee is headed by the KHADC CEM, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, with Executive Member in Charge of Market, Grace Mary Kharpuri, and Executive Member in Charge of Solid Waste Management, Victor Ranee, as members.
