Shillong, Feb 14: Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah is scheduled to be on a two-day visit to Meghalaya on February 16-17, 2023 to drum up support for the party for the upcoming assembly elections in the State.
Shah will be visiting the Garo Hills region of the State on the two days, where he will be holding multiple rallies at various venues.
He will be arriving at Tura on February 16 evening and hold a public meeting in Tura, before having organization meeting with all the district presidents, mandal presidents, party candidates and other functionaries from all over the Garo Hills.
On February 17, he will meet with Church leaders, followed by public meetings at Tikrikilla and Raksangiri, Garo Badha, Dalu and Baghmara, Resubelpara and Mendipathar.
Prior to the visit to Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national chief Jagat Prakash Nadda will be on a two-day visit to Meghalaya from February 14 to 15.
During his visit, Nadda will release the party manifesto (sankalp patra) for the upcoming assembly elections on Wednesday.
The BJP leader will arrive at Umroi Airport on Tuesday afternoon. He will address a massive public rally at Jhalupara taxi stand ground and chair various important organizational meetings.
Mentionably, most BJP leaders are currently focusing their energy and efforts in Tripura as the state will go to polls on February 16. They will turn their attention to Meghalaya and Nagaland after the polling in Tripura; as both Meghalaya and Nagaland go to polls on February 27. The counting of votes for all the three states will be held on March 2.
