7 arrested along with stolen bikes in Khasi-Jaintia Hills

Shillong, July 26: In a major breakthrough in the cases of stolen bikes from different parts of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region, Meghalaya police has arrested seven persons along with stolen bikes from different parts of the state.

On July 15, a complaint was received at Mawngap PS that one motor bike RS 200 (ML-05-P-6045) was stolen from Umlympung, 12th Mile, Mylliem.

Based on source information, a trap was laid where three persons were arrested from Amlarem and the stolen bike recovered from Padu village, Amlarem while another three persons involved were arrested from Pynursla, SP Sylvester Nongtnger said in a statement on Wednesday.

Further, during interrogation of the accused, one Pulsar 150 was recovered from Amlarem and another Pulsar 220 was recovered from Pynursla without any number plates and were ascertained to be stolen from Amlarem and Pynursla, he said.

Further on July 25, another complaint was received at Laban Police Station that one bike Pulsar 150 cc (ML 05-V-0993) was stolen from Lower Harisabha, Laban.

On a tip off, one accused was arrested from Shallang and the stolen bike recovered from there.

One Alto 800 bearing registration number AS 01 DH 2009 used in the crime was also seized.

However, some more accused involved are still on the run and efforts are on to nab them, the SP said.
