Nongpoh, Feb 10: A 65-year-old killed after his Jeep plunged into a gorge at Makoibari village under Mawdiangum in Rio-Bhoi district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the accident occured on Tuesday at around 1:20 pm.

The deceased has been identified as- Rymphangsngi Blah, a resident of Saiden village in Ri-Bhoi.
The victim was travelling from Makoibari towards the Mawdiangum main road in his Jeep bearing registration number ML-10-1027.
As per reports, the vehicle developed a mechanical problem while en route and in an attempt to regain control, the driver tried to change gears, but lost control of the Jeep, which eventually fell into a deep gorge, leaving him critically injured.

Upon receiving information, Nongpoh Traffic Police personnel rushed to the scene and immediately shifted the injured man to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh, however, doctors declared him brought dead due to the serious nature of his injuries.
Later, at the request of the deceased’s family, the post-mortem examination was waived, after completing all necessary legal formalities, the police handed over the body to the family for the last rites.
