23-year-old boy’s Sunday outing ends in tragedy: Falls into deep gorge at Mawmluh, Sohra

Shillong, Jan 28: A Sunday outing took a tragic turn as a 23-year-old boy fell into a deep gorge at a tourist spot in Mawmluh, Sohra, on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Bankynmaw Lyngdoh Mairang, a resident of Nongmynsong, Shillong, and a helper at Pala Resort, Shillong, was out with a friend on a bike.

According to Police, Bankynmaw was going out with his friend on a bike, but unfortunately, upon reaching the Tourist spot – 100 Waterfalls Camping site, he fell into a deep gorge while taking a leak.

Swiftly, the police arrived at the spot upon being informed by the eyewitness, and as of the filing of this news report, the police are working on the extraction process.
