West Jaiñtia Hills Court sentences man to life imprisonment for murder in 2009

Shillong, Aug 27: The court of NA Khan, District & Session Judge, West Jaintia Hills has convicted and sentenced one Weslyborn Pala alias Nana Pala, a resident of Barato village, to life imprisonment for committing murder.

The case dates back to August 6, 2009, when Bransely Suiai was allegedly chopped to death with a dao by Wesllyborn Pala around 8 pm.

A first information report (FIR) was filed by Eragina Timung, the daughter of the deceased, with the Nartiang police investigating centre (PIC) on August 7, 2009.

The case was registered with the Jowai police station and investigated by Sub-Inspector W Vaichei, who subsequently charge-sheeted the accused.

After a thorough trial, the court found Weslyborn Pala guilty of murder.

District & Session Judge NA Khan sentenced Weslyborn Pala to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.

The judgment was passed on August 25.
