Tura, March 15: The situation in West Garo Hills district remained largely peaceful on Sunday, with no reports of untoward incidents from any part of the district, even as authorities decided to extend the curfew as a precautionary measure.
According to the district administration, the curfew has been extended from 6:00 AM on March 16 to 6:00 AM on March 17, unless withdrawn earlier. However, a 12-hour relaxation will be granted from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on March 16 to allow residents to carry out normal activities.

During the relaxation period, educational institutions, offices, banks and other establishments will be allowed to function normally.
Meanwhile, as the situation gradually returns to normal, the Peace Crusade led by church leaders continued for the fourth consecutive day, with a prayer service held at Chandmari Playground in Tura.
The district administration expressed gratitude to local communities for their continued cooperation in preventing further violence and maintaining peace in the district.
Security forces remain deployed at strategic locations while the administration and police continue to closely monitor the situation.
