Shillong, June 15: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Thursday asked the state government to keep proper record on the refugees, who have come to the state in view of the Manipur situation.

Speaking to reporters after submitting a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong, VPP general secretary Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon said the party is very concerned on what is going on in Manipur especially when it came to know that a good number of refugees have come to the state from Manipur.

“We have submitted a letter to the Home Minister requesting him that proper records of all these refugees who have come to our state to be maintained. So that once the situation in Manipur becomes congenial and hopefully peaceful, these people can return to the state where they came from,” he said.

“On record, we would like to appreciate the effort taken by the government on humanitarian ground to allow our fellow beings who have been affected by this situation in Manipur but at the same time we thought in the interest of our state and our people that these refugees who have come to our state to return once normalcy is restored in Manipur,” Syngkon also added.
