Jowai, Sept 10: A dumper truck found itself in a precarious situation on Monday, when a massive pothole on NH-6 swallowed half of its tyre, bringing traffic to a grinding halt.

The incident, which took place in the Umkiang Village of the East Jaiñtia Hills, highlights the dire state of the region’s roads, which locals have long condemned as “deplorable.”

The bad road conditions have been a major concern for residents and drivers alike, with this latest mishap raising the urgent need for repairs.

Authorities scrambled to address the standstill, but traffic remained blocked through Tuesday as they worked to clear the scene.

As of now, efforts to restore the flow of traffic continues, with the community eagerly awaiting long-term solutions.
