Agartala, April 30: In a shocking incident of brutality, a person allegedly beheaded his underage wife and cut her body into pieces before dumping it in an arun field in Aralia. Tripura police recovered the mutilated body from the arun field of Aralia under East Agartala police station in Tripura on Friday evening.

According to police, since April 28 (Friday) afternoon both husband Kayer Miah (25) and his wife Tanuja Begum (15) were missing from their house, located in the thickly populated Muslim Para area of Aralia. The local residents of the area informed the relatives of Tanuja Begum, and, soon after their arrival, local villagers entered the house and found several blood stains.

They immediately informed the police and a team of police personnel led by SDPO (Sadar) Ashish Dasgupta rushed to the spot.

Police brought the forensic team and dog squad and started searching for the body of the missing girl. The police team found lots of blood-stained clothes shoved into an abandoned toilet.

Speaking to reporters, SP (West) Kiran Reddy said, “Within four hours of the report, the police team led by SDPO (Sadar) managed to detain suspected accused husband Kayer Miah from Battala area and based on his confessional statement, they started searching the body at River Howrah in Battala area. But could not find the body of the slain girl. Later, after thorough interrogation, the killer husband revealed that on Thursday night he killed his wife by beheading her and dumped the body into two bags into an arum field near his house.”

The SP said they recovered the body of the slain girl in two pieces. “After interrogation, we can ascertain the modus operandi of the crime and suspect that more accomplices were involved in the brutal murder,” Reddy said.

He said the body has been sent to GB hospital for autopsy.
