Agartala, Dec 25: Tripura police have launched a massive investigation against the husband of a BJP MLA for issuing death threats to a youth who was filming video of a newly constructed market shed.
According to the police, the probe is based on an FIR lodged with the P R Bari police station in Belonia against the husband of a BJP MLA from Rajnagar Swapna Majumdar.
“On December 16, the complainant, identified as Suresh Chandra Dey, was caught by MLA’s husband Asim Majumdar when the former was filming a video on his mobile phone of the newly constructed market sheds,” said a police official.
Dey said he was warned not to make any such video, or else his life would be in danger.
Dey also alleged that a gang of ruling party workers led by Majumdar has been syphoning off the funds sanctioned for the development project for months.
According to the police, as soon as they received the complaint, an FIR was registered and an investigation started.
