Shillong, May 10: The Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), in coordination with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Shillong, has issued a weather advisory forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall in parts of the state.

According to the advisory, the affected areas are likely to include East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, and West Jaintia Hills. The weather conditions are expected to occur within the next three hours from the time of issuance—between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM on May 10.

Citizens residing in these regions are urged to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions. The SDMA recommends staying indoors during lightning activity and avoiding open areas, trees, and metal structures.

The advisory aims to ensure public safety and minimize the risk of weather-related incidents during this period of unstable weather conditions.
