STF apprehends Assam man with large numbers of fake Indian currency notes in Guwahati

Guwahati, July 9: A Special Task Force(STF) of Assam police on Sunday apprehended a person allegedly involved in FICN (fake Indian currency notes) in Guwahati.

The person has been identified as Bulbul Alam(31).

Bulbul Alam was apprehended by a team from STF, Assam from a rented house located at Dakhingaon, Hatigaon, Guwahati.

The arrested accused person is originally from village Alooguti Chhar of Barpeta.

It is pertinent to be stated that acting upon a source input an operation was conducted on July 5, 2023 in Guwahati by a team of STF, Assam, Guwahati where a person, namely Md. Sahanoor Islam (28), involved in illegal activities relating to fake Indian currency notes (FICN) was apprehended from near ISBT bypass, Guwahati.

“Further, after spot interrogation, search operation was conducted at the house of the accused person located at Ahom Gaon, Guwahati from where bundles of photostated Indian currency notes of 500 denominations and bundles of blank white papers of size & shape of Indian currency notes of 500 denominations were recovered,” said a police official.

He said, “The accused Md. Sahanoor Islam is a cheater who lure people of providing double the amount of FICN against original Indian currency notes one comes to him for exchange. The modus operandi of the cheater is to lure people and to loot the original currency notes when a person approaches him for exchanging with double numbers of FICN,”.

“A Maruti Breeza vehicle used by the arrested accused person bearing registration numbers (AS 01 EK 5644, 04) four numbers of mobile phones and a pistol-look-alike lighter were also recovered from the possession of the cheater arrested on 5th July, 2023 and a case, in this connection, was registered at STF PS vide Case No. 05/2023 U)S 120(B)/489(A)/489(C)/489(D) IPC,” he said.
