Shillong, Dec 8: The Shillong Cricket Academy’s girls’ team beat St Anthony’s Academy by three wickets in the U-19 Girls Cricket Tournament 2024 at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium on Saturday.

St Anthony’s Academy won the toss and chose to bat first in the T20 game.

Adelakmen and Isha provided a steady start but both were run out, the latter for a fighting 15 before Dawanshisa scored a quick 8 and Eliza an aggressive 17 to help their side post 109 all out in 19.4 overs.

Dawanshisha claimed three wickets in the chase but a strong opening stand by Shillong Cricket Academy’s Lasusa (16) and Leeney (18) helped their team to victory in the 18th over.

In the corresponding U-14 boys’ tournament, the second semifinal between the A and B teams of St Anthony’s Cricket Academy will be held on Monday. The match was originally scheduled to be played on Friday but was abandoned due to bad light. Shillong Cricket Academy A won the first semifinal against the B team.

The tournament featured six boys’ teams and two girls’ teams from various academies around the city, namely the Shillong Cricket Academy at Lawsohtun, St Anthony’s Cricket Academy, Nongthymmai Cricket Coaching Centre and the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association Academy. The tournament is being supported by the Meghalaya Cricket Association.
