Shillong, June 21: To ensure a fair and unbiased assessment of the reservation policy, Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Wednesday said that the government is actively seeking an Expert Committee comprising members who are both balanced and neutral in nature.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference, the Chief Minister expressed his commitment to forming a committee that would uphold the principles of equity and inclusivity.
He further explained that it is important to understand the significance of having a comprehensive and impartial evaluation of our reservation policy and to achieve this, the government is actively searching for individuals who possess expertise in the matter and who can offer diverse perspectives.
Chief Minister Sangma emphasized that the composition of the Expert Committee would not be limited to individuals solely from within the state. The government is keen on including experts from outside the state as well, thereby enabling a broader understanding of the issue at hand.
The Expert Committee’s primary task will be to critically examine the existing reservation policy and make recommendations for potential improvements or modifications. By fostering a balanced and neutral approach, the committee aims to address any concerns or disparities in the current system, ensuring that it continues to promote social justice and equal opportunities for all citizens.
