Shillong, Dec 6: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the District Administration and the Police department have been instructed to keep check on illegal donations being collected by NGOs and individuals in Shillong.

Tynsong was reacting to reports of groups targeting business communities in the city for extortion and illegal donation collection, wherein he said that without permission from the government the NGOs cannot do such things.

“See it’s very clear, we have instructed the District Administration and the Police department to take action against groups involved in extortion in Shillong, and until and unless you get the permission from the Deputy Commissioner, you cannot just go and collect donations,” Tynsong said.
