Shillong, Oct 14: A massive fire erupted at Payal Cinema, adjacent to the Congress Bhawan, on Thana Road in Police Bazar in Shillong on Saturday afternoon.
Till the filing of this report, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. However, it is suspected to have been caused due to explosion of cooking gas cylinder.
The fire department reached the scene swiftly and was trying to bring the fire under control. The fire broke out at around 1:45 pm.
The building reportedly belongs to one Amit Singhania.
At the time of filing this report, reportedly two people were feared trapped inside the building, however their status was not known. The building also houses Singhania printing press.
