Shillong, May 7: A major road accident occurred at Mawblei on Sunday when an oil tanker overturned and crushed two vehicles. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties from the incident.

The truck crushed one Hyundai Venue car and a mini truck.

The accident caused a significant traffic jam on the Shillong-Jowai road as the oil from the tanker spilled over on the road. The oil made the road slippery and hazardous not just for the vehicles but even for pedestrians as some were seen falling over while trying to cross the road.

At the same time, some were heard constantly telling people not to light a fire around as the oil is highly inflammable, since the truck was carrying petrol.

To handle the situation, fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene to clean up the spilled oil. The accident caused inconvenience to the motorists on the road, and it took some time for the traffic to get moving.

Reports suggest that the oil tanker was headed to Mawlai Thangkhiew Service Station.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
