TURA, March 1: Rev. Leopoldo Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal and Ambassador of the Holy Father, presided over the Rite of Pontifical High Mass and hymns at the Sacred Heart Shrine in Tura on Sunday.
A Pontifical High Mass is a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by a bishop, marked by special liturgical rites and ceremonial dignity.

The solemn celebration was attended by Bishop Andrew R. Marak of the Diocese of Tura and Auxiliary Bishop Jose Chirackal, along with members of the clergy, priests and parishioners.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma was also present at the Mass, accompanied by Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A. Sangma and other local leaders. Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal and Ambassador of the Holy Father was on a two-day visit to Meghalaya.

Thousands of devotees thronged the church premises to participate in the Pontifical High Mass, turning the shrine into a sea of faith and devotion. The faithful listened attentively as the Apostolic Nuncio led the prayers and offered his message, imparting blessings to the congregation.
The church grounds resonated with hymns sung by the choir, creating a solemn and uplifting atmosphere. Worshippers joined in prayer with deep reverence, marking the occasion as a significant spiritual gathering for the Diocese of Tura.
