Shillong, Sept 10: The National People’s Party (NPP) has nominated Limison D Sangma for the post of Deputy Speaker in the Assembly.
His candidature was proposed by Minister Marcuise Marak and seconded by former Speaker A.T. Mondal.
Since there is no other candidate in the fray, Limison is set to be elected unopposed.
He filed his nomination on Wednesday before the Commissioner and Secretary of the Assembly. The election is scheduled for Friday.
A new Deputy Speaker had to be chosen following the resignation of Timothy D Shira on Monday.
