SHILLONG, SEPT 25: NPP legislator and adviser to the MDA government Ampareen Lyngdoh on Friday said the entire episode surrounding the 8 UDP MLAs joining the BJP is filled with too much fiction.
“The entire episode is filled with too much fiction. Lots of incorrect information is circulating to the public. Beyond a certain point, fiction has to take a back seat and reality has to take its place,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
Asserting that there is a stable government in the state, she said, “Don’t make it look like there is no more government in the state of Meghalaya. We are in charge and we are executing our executive roles as in charge of the government.”
She said the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and the two deputy chief ministers are on the job and are in conversation with the 8 legislators.
“Stop making it look like Meghalaya will shortly have no government, that is not true. Governance is still in progress and we will continue till 2028 as per mandate of law. We have full faith in the leadership of our Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and the two deputy chief ministers who will steer the state forward,” Lyngdoh asserted.
Dismissing speculation that everything has come to a standstill, she said, “Please allow the government to execute its role as government in governance. Political parties will take their own actions. It is not as if everything has come to a standstill. We are working hard and we just had a very important workshop.”
On being asked about the 8 MLAs, Lyngdoh said, “Who are they? I have not met them. I have not met the 8 MLAs and I don’t know what is running in their minds.”
“I don’t know what their problems are, I am not a member of the UDP, I am NPP. Sometimes what is being said is also being twisted. No gossip will interest me, I really am not interested,” she said while reacting to the allegation that the MLAs left due to lack of development.
She further said it is not her business to comment on other legislators’ decisions.
“It is really none of my business what a legislator does. What they want to do is their problem, will they win or will they lose, they know better. I don’t live in any of these eight constituencies, my constituency is secure,” she said.
“I am going to concentrate on making sure that the people of my constituency find their MLA when they go at 8 am in the morning. What somebody does is not my problem,” she added.
Rubbishing rumours of her travelling to Delhi, Lyngdoh said, “I am a legislator and I am very much here in Shillong, I never went anywhere, so stop making it look like you saw me in a flight and that you accompanied me to Delhi. It is becoming a bit too theatrical.”
