NIRF 2023 rankings: IIT Madras tops the list, IIT Guwahati secures 9th position

Guwahati, June 5: IIT Madras has been ranked as the best institution followed by IISC Bengaluru and IIT Delhi according to the NIRF Ranking released by the Union Ministry of Education on Monday.

The NIRF 2023 rankings was released on Monday by the Union minister of state for education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

In the list of top 10 institutes in the overall category IIT Guwahati stands at the ninth position. Also, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ranked sixth and 10th.

List of IIT’s according to the NIRF 2023 Rankings 

1. IIT Madras
2. IIM Bengaluru
3. IIT Delhi
4. IIT Bombay
5. IIT Kanpur
6. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
7. IIT Kharagpur
8. IIT Roorkee
9. IIT Guwahati
10. JNU

The list of top 10 institutions were ranked under 13 categories such as colleges, university, management, engineering, pharmacy, medical,law, dental, architecture, research, agriculture, and innovation. The institutions were evaluated based on five broad generic parameters including learning, teaching, graduation outcomes, research, outreach, resources, and professional practice, inclusivity, and perception. Also, this is for the first time when agriculture and allied sector category was included in NIRF.

This year, around 8,686 applications were received for the rankings against 7,254 in 2022.
