Tura, March 19: The West Garo Hills district administration has extended the ongoing night curfew, keeping restrictions in place for over a week amid continuing law and order concerns.

In an order issued on March 19, Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal said the curfew will remain in force daily from 6 pm to 6 am until further notice.

The administration cited recent incidents of violence and public disturbances in parts of the district as the reason for continuing the restrictions.

“Based on inputs from law enforcement agencies, it has been deemed necessary to continue strict preventive measures to prevent further escalation and restore normalcy,” the order stated.

Movement outside residences during curfew hours will remain prohibited across the district. Police and magistrates have been directed to ensure strict enforcement.

Officials warned that any violation will invite legal action under the relevant provisions of law.

The curfew has been imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and will remain in effect until further orders.
