Shillong, Aug 30: The Secretary, Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has informed that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has opened entries for its ninth annual competition for short films on human rights.
It has received tremendous response so far from various parts of the country.
The aim of the award scheme is to encourage and acknowledge cinematic and creative efforts of the Indian citizens, irrespective of their age, towards the promotion and protection of human rights.
The last date for receiving the entries is 30th September, 2023. Entries have to be sent online at [email protected], using Google drive folder.
The prize money for the first, second and third best film will be Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 1.5 lakh, and Rs. 1 lakh, respectively. The Commission, in addition to three cash awards, certificates and trophies, may also consider giving a Certificate of Special Mention along with a cash prize of Rs.50,000 each to some films, if so recommended by the Jury.
The short films may be in any Indian language with subtitles in English or in Hindi. Duration of the short film should not be less than 3 minutes or more than 10 minutes.
