Shillong, Feb 25: The newly elected Members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will take their oath of office on Thursday at the District Council Hall, Shillong.
This was announced in a notification issued by the District Council Affairs Department in a notification on Wednesday.
According to the notification, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District will preside over the oath-taking ceremony and administer the Oath or Affirmation to the newly elected Members as per Rule 24 of the Assam & Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951.
Following the swearing-in, the election for the post of KHADC Chairman will be held on February 28 (Friday), with the Deputy Commissioner overseeing the process. Later the same day in the afternoon, the election for the Chief Executive Member (CEM) will be conducted, presided over by the newly elected Chairman.
