Dimapur, July 8: Three relief camps have been set up at BSNL Quarters in Walford, S.M. Colony, and Namgalong Colony for those affected by the ongoing floods in Dimapur, Nagaland.

As Nagaland continues to witness relentless monsoon downpours, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has reported extensive and escalating damage across several districts.

Dimapur has been severely affected due to continuous rainfall. Low-lying areas were submerged, forcing residents to take shelter in the relief camps.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) deployed one rescue boat and 25 personnel, including trained divers, to evacuate residents stranded in flooded homes and streets.
Altogether, 844 individuals—including children, the elderly, the sick, persons with special needs, and infants—were safely rescued and relocated to the three designated relief camps.

In Dimapur district, floodwaters entered several colonies including SM Colony, Ragailong, Namgalong, Super Market, K Sachu, Ekhyoyan Village, Walford, and Model Colony in Purana Bazaar. Relief camps have been set up by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dimapur, for the displaced, while HG, CD, and SDRF teams remain actively engaged in search and rescue operations.

Similar scenes of flooding were reported in Chümoukedima district, affecting areas such as Tenyiphe, Chekiye, Virazouma, Singrijan, Khopanala, Sovima, and villages near the 173rd CRPF Camp. Continuous rainfall has also damaged public infrastructure throughout the district.
