Shillong, Oct 15: A series of shocking incidents of sexual harassment have been reported in the Laitumkhrah area, where a man driving a black Mahindra Bolero has allegedly been following young women and performing obscene acts in front of them.

According to one victim who shared the traumatic experience on Instagram, the incident occurred at around 5:25 PM (date was not mentioned) near Loreto Convent while she was waiting for a Rapido ride.

“The driver stopped right in front of me with his window open and started doing weird, inappropriate things while staring at me. I cried and ran away. I was too shocked and scared to even record anything. He even followed me and stopped again near the Cathedral’s small gate. I quickly got on my Rapido and left. It was honestly so scary,” she said.

Another woman reported a similar experience, stating that the man slowed down his vehicle and and engaged in an obscene act in front of them.

“He was showing everything to us. If you see this Bolero, you know what kind of person the owner is,” she said.

A third victim stated that the same vehicle targeted her and her friend near Burger King on September 23 at around 8 PM.

“The same car did this to me and my friend near Burger King,” she said.

Another girl recounted that she and her sister were also followed while returning home from computer class.

“We usually walk that way since it’s our route home. Utterly disgusting,” she added.

One of the victims managed to take a photo of the vehicle’s rear, but not during the act itself.

So far, it remains unclear if any of the victims have filed a formal police complaint, with authorities relying on screenshots from their social media accounts for statements.

Meghalaya Police have yet to issue an official statement.
