Tura, July 19: The Muga Eri silkworm seed orientation programme was held under the district of North Garo Hills, Resubelpara.
This programme was organised by the department of Central Silk Board for staff of the Directorate of Sericulture.
This programme started on Wednesday and will conclude on Saturday.
Twenty five state government officials from the district are attending this orientation programme. BN Sarkar of the CSB was the chief guest and is the head of training programme.
BN Sarkar explained how sericulture can generate employment, through muga and eri culture,the CSB takes a major role in conducting training programmes for the socio economic development of the district.
He was hopeful that traditionally practiced muga or eri culture will definitely improve the economic status of the garo hills and generate new employment opportunities.
