Tura, Sept 2: People in Garo Hills have been left shocked with the chilling news of a mother murdering her own minor daughter and hiding the body in a shallow grave behind the house in Haripur village of Garobadha, West Garo Hills.

The incident in Haripur village, Garobadha police station jurisdiction, happened on Friday morning when the father and elder brother of the child was not in the house.
The mother Hema Malini Koch, aged 36 years, allegedly murdered the daughter by slitting her throat while her husband had gone out fishing to the nearby river.

The elder son was also away at a relative’s house.

When the father returned he didn’t find his daughter and thinking she may have gone to school didn’t suspect anything until he went to the back of the house and found a hurriedly covered pit that looked like a shallow grave.

He was left in tears and shock when he dug the earth to discover the body of his little daughter.

Police were called in and the body was exhumed on Saturday morning in the presence of a magistrate.

It was found the cold blooded murder was so heinous that the head and neck had been severed from the body.

Women police have arrested the accused mother but she is refusing to cooperate with police and not answering questions.

Police are now looking at the angle of witchcraft and even personal family issues over the cold blooded murder.
