Mizoram: ZORO hold rally against ongoing violence in Manipur, several resolutions passed

Aizawl, July 12: The ZO Reunification Organisation (ZORO) on Wednesday held a rally at Aizawl in Mizoram regarding the ongoing violence in Manipur.

Speaking to media persons, Pu R.Sangkawia, ZORO President, condemned the attacks on Zo ethnic people and the silence of the Prime Minister, saying that the head of the family takes care of the affairs of his children, but it appears the government of India does not care about the Zo people.

Led by Vice President Pu F Ngurbiakvela, the rally also mourned those who have died in the ongoing violence.

“We have collected data of Manipur violence and found that a total of 124 people were killed, 377 injured, 60 people missing, 290 village burned, 7247 houses were burnt down, 357 church and quarters were burned and 41425 people were displaced,” ZORO stated in a press statement.

Pu Rohmingthanga, Colney Vice President, led a mass-prayer for those who have been affected by the violence.

Tv. L. Ramdinliana Renthlei, General Secretary of ZORO, said that in spite of the violence, Meitei people in Mizoram are safe and free to go about their daily business.

He paid his respects and support to Zo ethnic people defending their land in Manipur.

The rally passed the following resolutions:
– We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Manipur who have lost their lives, properties, livelihoods, and their fight for survival and demand for a separate administration.
– We urge the Indian Government to give the Zo ethnic people in Manipur a separate administration.
– We support and will work towards the unity of Zo ethnic people all over the world, and for them to be under one administration.
