Shillong, May 7: Meghalaya has reason to celebrate as one of its own, Ivanna Mikkachi Bazeley Agitok Sangma, has recently graduated from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management-Rohtak (IIM-R) with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), specializing in Marketing Strategy and Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources.
Ivanna completed her schooling at Pine Mount School in Shillong and her Bachelor’s degree from St. Stephen’s College in Delhi with Honours in Physics.
Expressing her delight at being able to study at such a prestigious institution, Ivanna encouraged young people from Meghalaya and beyond to explore opportunities for higher studies and scholarships, stressing the importance of determination, focus, and commitment in achieving their dreams.
She said one advantage of studying at an IIM is the campus recruitment that guarantees a job at the end of the MBA with some of the world’s top companies. Through campus recruitment, Ivanna secured a job as Senior Business Analyst with Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), a Global Fortune 500 company that provides IT consulting and business process outsourcing services across industries. She is eagerly waiting for her posting.
To encourage young people from Meghalaya to pursue higher studies in management, Ivanna explained the process of getting into one of the twenty IIMs in the country, emphasizing that any graduate can take the CAT exam, which is required for admission to these institutions. She also highlighted the availability of education loans and scholarships, particularly for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, including the National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students offered by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, which covers full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, and allowances for computers and books.
She is the younger daughter of Bijoy A. Sangma, Former Deputy Chief of NERCRMS -IFAD and Former National Executive Director of Haggai Institute of Leadership, currently Global Executive Director (ILC) of BMS World Mission. Her mother, Sylvia Bazeley A. Sangma, is a teacher in St. Anthony’s School.
