Meghalaya Youth League Zone-A | Tura U-14 boys dominate opening day

Tura, July 20: The First edition of the Meghalaya Youth League kicked off on Saturday at the Chandmari Football Field in Tura. The opening match featured the Tura District Football Association facing off against the Baghmara District Football Association in the U-14 category (Zone A).

The Tura U-14 boys’ team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Baghmara with a resounding 13-0 victory.

The goals for Tura were scored by:

– Wennieber M Sangma (3rd, 7th, 17th, and 67th minutes)
– Adeodatus G Momin (4th minute)
– Angchu Derio T Sangma (19th minute)
– Adoweanga R Marak (31st, 34th, and 35th minutes)
– Luxbirth M Sangma (63rd minute)
– Chegado Ch Marak (16th, 24th, and 60th minutes)

The Meghalaya Youth League will be played on a zonal basis, with teams from four zones competing in home-and-away matches before the top teams qualify for the knockout stages. Youth league matches are being held simultaneously at eight different district venues across the state.

The Meghalaya Youth League aims to serve as a platform for selecting youth teams to represent Meghalaya at the national level. Additionally, it will provide young footballers with a pathway to club-level senior football, contributing to the development of one of the strongest football structures in the country.
