Shillong, April 17: The Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Meghalayan Age Ltd, has announced ‘Culinary Cascade 2025’, a three-day food and cultural extravaganza set to take place from May 1st to 3rd at the picturesque Ward’s Lake in Shillong, from 12 PM to 8 PM daily.

Bringing together the essence of Meghalaya’s rich culinary traditions and global food trends, Culinary Cascade promises to be more than just a food festival. With the tagline “Eat. Explore. Experience”, the event aims to reconnect communities with their roots, spotlight indigenous knowledge, and foster sustainable ties between farmers, chefs, and consumers.

From Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo cuisine to international delicacies and rising trends like boba, ramen, Korean bites, and progressive baking, the festival offers a deep dive into the evolving foodscape. Local street food stars like dohsnam, ktung, and shana-iong will share space with innovative snacks such as BYOChips and Hotspud, creating a palate of tradition and trend.

Attendees can enjoy live cooking demonstrations by top chefs and culinary students, talks and panels with food writers and academicians, hands-on experiences with smoked meats, fermented foods, and traditional cooking tools, as well as tasting sessions of homegrown tea, coffee, and local brews. A special documentary screening will offer deeper insight into the vision behind Culinary Cascade.

Adding star power to the event are international culinary experts like Jason White, former head chef at the Michelin-starred Noma, alongside homegrown icons like Ahmedaki Laloo, founder of A’origins, a unique dining experience reviving ancestral food wisdom.

Set against the lush backdrop of Shillong’s iconic Ward’s Lake, Culinary Cascade 2025 will be open to all, with free entry. The event promises to be Meghalaya’s most flavourful offering of the year, bringing together food, culture, innovation, and sustainability.
