SHILLONG, MAR 6: The Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Friday recovered heroin and more than 10 kg of crystal methamphetamine worth over Rs 5113 crore during a naka check in East Jaintia Hills, calling it the state’s biggest NDPS haul by value.
Police stopped a Tata Sumo (MZ‑01‑M‑8625) with two passengers and a driver. From a female passenger they seized 19 plastic soap cases containing 203.7 grams of suspected heroin.
A blue trolley bag belonging to the other passenger held 10.145 kg of suspected methamphetamine.
“Preliminary analysis suggests the individuals are part of a larger inter‑state and cross‑border drug trafficking syndicate,” Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) said in a release.
The contraband is worth approximately ₹51.13 crore on the illegal market.
An ANTF case has been registered and investigators are working to establish forward and backward linkages.
The team said the operation followed due legal procedure during the coordinated checkpoint at Ratacherra.
