Meghalaya names squad for Ranji Trophy

Shillong, Dec 8: The senior men’s selection committee of the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) has selected 15 players for the prestigious Ranji Trophy.

Six standbys were also named by the MCA.

Meghalaya’s first game will be against Mizoram in Nadiad, Gujarat, from December 13.

Guest professional Punit Singh Bisht will be the captain and Dippu Ch Sangma his deputy.

A preparatory camp for the players began at Mangaldai, Assam, on December 5 until they depart on December 10. Only the final 15-member squad will leave for Gujarat, with the standbys returning to Meghalaya.

Meghalaya squad: Kishan Lyngdoh, Bamanbha Shangpliang, Sylvester Mylliempdah, Dippu Ch Sangma (V-C), Lerry Sangma, Tarique Anwar Siddique, Raj Biswa, Abhishek Kumar, Akash Kumar Choudhary, Arbin Singh, Md Nafees Siddique, Lakhan Singh, Swarajeet Das, Punit Bisht (C), Rajesh Bishnoi.

Meghalaya standbys: Manish K Rai, Junjun Sangma, Shaisngi Lyngdoh, Rohit Shah, Pringsang Sangma, Sanvert B Kurkalang.

Meghalaya support staff: Dheeraj Jadhav (head coach), Moisten Ch Marak (assistant coach), Himmat Singh (trainer), Surojit Biswas (physio), Raju D Sangma (manager).
