New Delhi, June 14: In view of heavy downpours in many parts of Meghalaya, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Flash Flood Risk (FFR) alert for Friday, June 14.

In an official statement issued by the Flash Flood Guidance Cell of IMD’s Hydromet Division, the Flash Flood Guidance Cell states that low to moderate flash flood risk is likely over a few watersheds and neighborhoods of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya.

It added that surface runoff or inundation might also occur on June 14 in some fully saturated soils and low-lying areas over the Area of Concern (AOC), as shown in the map.

Apart from Meghalaya, neighboring Assam’s Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Chirang, Darrang, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Kamrup Rural, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, N.C. Hills, Nalbari, and Udalguri districts are also at risk
