Shillong, June 28: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said that the state government will continue to pursue with the Centre for immediate implementation of the inner line permit (ILP), inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

Asked on whether his government would take up these long pendings demands with the new government at the Centre, Sangma said, “The issue of a language and for ILP is something which we have always stressed on. The state government has in fact we have pushed the Centre through multiple resolutions we have passed and on multiple occasions we have raised the issue so the government is very much aware about the concerns that the state government has raised and we will continue to raise it.”

“I have not got the opportunity yet to meet the Prime Minister and Home Minister because I was there in Delhi only for one day so I could meet only 8-9 ministers. I could not meet the rest. In my next visit I will make sure that I will be able to meet the others and during those meetings we will discuss the issues,” he said.
