SHILLONG, FEB 16: The State Cabinet Thursday approved the proposal for increasing the amount of secretarial assistance provided to retired judges.

Addressing media persons, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the cabinet has approved the proposal to amend the Retired Judges’ Secretarial and Domestic Help, Rules, 2013.

“This was done last in 2015 and hence there was a request that came in from the high court and based on those suggestions, the amendments were made to this particular rule, to enhance the amount that is given as secretarial assistance and domestic help and other financial assistances given to retired judges and chief justices,” he said.

The CM also informed that the Cabinet has also approved the amendment to the allowances recommended by the 2nd National Judicial Pay Commission.

He said the Supreme Court has directed that certain benefits to judicial magistrates and other judicial officers in the state should be at the national level and as per this direction the government is going ahead with those amendments.
