SHILLONG, APR 27: The State government is awaiting the report of the delimitation committee constituted by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council before taking any decision on the district council polls, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Tuesday.
“The delimitation committee has been constituted and now it is on the job to see all these calculation how to give the report to the district council and then the district council will ultimately pass it in the House and send to the Governor for approval,” Tynsong told reporters.

“So, right now from the state government or the governor, we are waiting for that and once that is passed and send to the Governor, I am very sure we will be able to approve it,” he added.
Asked about the timeline, Tynsong said: “As per the notification, I think the district council themselves has already notified and this delimitation committee will complete the job as directed to them within 3 months’ time.”

The delimitation exercise will redraw boundaries of constituencies under GHADC.
According to him, the final report must be adopted by the Council and cleared by the Governor before the election process can move forward.
