Shillong, Nov 4: The Government of Meghalaya has approved the resumption of the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for recruitment in the Civil Defence & Home Guards Department.

The PET will now take place from November 18 to November 21, 2024, following a temporary postponement in October due to heavy rainfall in the region.

Candidates originally scheduled for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) on October 4, 5, 7, and 9, as well as those who qualified in the PMT and participated in the PET on October 2 and 3, will need to download new admit cards. These admit cards will be available on the department’s official website, www.meghomeguards.gov.in, beginning November 6.

In October, Civil Defence & Home Guards Minister Comingone Ymbon visited the test venue and convened an emergency meeting with the Central Recruitment Board, candidates, and officials, including Commandant General MK Singh and Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri. Due to persistent rainfall, the board made a collective decision to temporarily postpone the tests to ensure safety.

For candidates who attended the PET on October 2 and 3, the department offers the option to retake the test. However, opting for a retake will void their previous PET scores, and only the new test results will be considered for recruitment.

The ongoing recruitment process seeks to fill 445 vacant positions across the department, including roles such as sub inspector, guardsman, driver, and non-combatant employee. In both Shillong and Tura, 22,474 candidates were provisionally accepted, with 12,197 participating in the PET. Of those, 6,547 successfully qualified, while 5,650 did not pass.

For further information and updates, candidates can visit the official website of the Civil Defence & Home Guards Department.
