Meghalaya Assembly polls: Congress candidates from Ri Bhoi file nomination

Nongpoh, Feb 2: The third day for the filling of nominations for the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Elections 2023 witnessed the filling of nominations by the candidates of the Congress in Ri Bhoi district.

The Congress candidates who filed their nominations include Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee (RBDCC) president and sitting MDC Charles Marngar who will contest from Mawhati Constituency, Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, the Chairman of Manifesto and Campaign Committee of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) who will be contesting from Umsning Constituency, Stanleywis Rymbai from Umroi Constituency, and Rona Khymdeit from Nongpoh Constituency. Edrian C Mylliem, who will be contesting from Jirang Constituency, will file his nomination on Friday.

After all screening of the documents by the Returning Officer, the candidates were made to take an oath before signing the final candidature paper for the upcoming assembly elections, which will be held on February 27.

Speaking to the media after filing their nomination, the RBDCC president Charles Marngar and Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh expressed their happiness for completing the nomination for the upcoming election along with other candidates from the four constituencies in Ri Bhoi District.

They also expressed that the Congress party is firm and determined to field candidates in all the 60 constituencies in the state with strong hopes that the party will have 100 percent victories and will be the largest party to win the upcoming election and will lead the government.
