Shillong, Aug 14: Meghalaya’s pineapples, which are displayed at an Abu Dhabi mall, are all set to be showcased in New Delhi with the three-day ‘Pineapple Fest 2023’ at Dilli Haat from August 18.

According to officials, the three-day fest is set to kick off with a cultural programme on Friday followed by various events over the next three days.

A Senior official from the Meghalaya government said that the sweetest pineapples from the state are currently on display at Abu Dhabi’s  Al-Wahda Mall. These pineapples are being marketed through the Lulu Group into the Gulf markets.

Pineapples are grown by local communities in the state in a traditional manner; these are mostly organic.

Other products like the GI-tagged Khasi mandarin, Lakadong turmeric, and Kew pineapples are also gaining more and more popularity.

Officials said that the sweetness of the pineapples is indicated by the presence of a Brix value of 16–18.
