MCA inaugurates practice nets at St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School

Shillong, Oct 6: The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) formally inaugurated the newly-repaired and upgraded pitch and cricket box nets at the St Anthony’s Mini Stadium ground here.

The MCA, represented by its Honorary Secretary Gideon Kharkongor and other office bearers, assisted in upgrading the St Anthony’s School Cricket Academy facilities by providing nets and renovating the practice area with astroturf wickets. The academy imparts coaching to students from institutions all over Shillong.

St Anthony’s HSS, which has an illustrious cricket history, was represented at the inauguration by the Vice-Principal, Fr Anthony Wahlang, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MCA, especially to the Honorary Secretary, who had personally overseen the construction of the practice area. He further mentioned that the collaboration will go far in keeping the students interested in sport, especially cricket, which is beneficial for a healthy society.

Kharkongor spoke at length about the decades-long collaboration and partnership between St Anthony’s Cricket Academy and the MCA. He had a long interaction with the pupils of the academy and encouraged them to aim high and make use of the facilities and opportunities available to them.

Meanwhile, students had a good time interacting with the MCA officials and were happy with the facilities provided by the school with assistance by the MCA.
